意大利足协沉痛哀悼方济各教皇逝世。 (ECNS) -- A Sichuan embroidery artwork inspired by the Sun and Immortal Birds Gold Ornament, which was carried into space aboard the Shenzhou-6 spacecraft, was showcased in Chengdu in southwest China’s Sichuan Province Sunday. The exhibition opened at the Jinsha Site Museum in Chengdu, featuring 198 creative works that combine the Sun and Immortal Birds motif with aerospace elements. According to the Jinsha Site Museum, the exhibition features more than 400 creative works collected through a public call launched by the Jinsha Site Museum during this year’s Cultural and Natural Heritage Day. The Jinsha Site in Chengdu was the capital of the ancient Shu civilization during the Shang and Zhou dynasties (1600-256BC). Among the artifacts unearthed there, the Sun and Immortal Birds Gold Ornament is one of the most iconic. The gold ornament, weighing only 20 grams and measuring 0.02 centimeters in thickness, features a hollow design of four birds circling the sun, reflecting ancient Chinese people’s imagination of the universe. In October 2005, two months after the pattern was selected as the the symbol of China's cultural heritage, a Sichuan embroidery artwork based on the Sun and Immortal Birds design was carried into space aboard the Shenzhou-6 manned spacecraft.
